What are the requirements for opening a business account?

Summary of the qualifications and documentation required to open a business account

Requirements

  • Business accounts must be opened in person at a Floridacentral branch.
  • All entities must operate and be registered to do business in the State of Florida.
  • $100 minimum deposit to open the account.

Documentation

Documentation requirements vary based on the type of business. Before heading to the branch, please review the information below to find out what documentation you will need to open the account.
Federal law requires us to obtain sufficient information to verify your identity. You may be asked several questions and be required to provide one or more forms of identification to fulfill this requirement. In some instances, we may use outside sources to confirm the information. The information you provide is protected by our privacy policy and federal law. 

Corporation or LLC Corporation

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Valid Identification and Social Security Number for each account signer and owner. Must include residential address and date of birth.
  • Copy of Articles of Incorporation or Articles or Organization
  • Copy of Florida Secretary of State Certificate of Good Standing
  • Florida Department of State (www.sunbiz.org) filing must be current and show the status as Active.
  • Copy of Florida Fictitious Name Certificate, if applicable.

General, Limited or Limited Liability Partnerships

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Valid Identification and Social Security Number for each account signer and owner. Must include residential address and date of birth.
  • Copy of Articles of Incorporation or Articles of Organization
  • General Partnership Agreement or Certificate of Good Standing
  • Florida Department of State (www.sunbiz.org) filing must be current and show the status as Active.
  • Copy of Florida Fictitious Name Certificate, if applicable.

Sole Proprietorship or LLC Disregarded Entity

  • Sole Proprietor’s Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Valid Identification and Social Security Number for account owner and any additional signers. Must include residential address and date of birth.
  • Copy of Florida Fictitious Name Certification, if applicable.

Unincorporated Association, Organization and Non-Profit

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN)
  • Valid Identification and Social Security Number for each account signer. Must include residential address and date of birth.
  • Charter Groups - Must provide documentation of membership to larger national charter. For example, Boy Scouts, School Groups, Church Groups, Bowling Leagues, etc.
  • Small Groups or Leagues - Must provide some type of documentation that proves that their group exists. For example, minutes from and location of meeting, roster, nature of business.
